Battery selection should be based on shift length and charging opportunities. Lead-acid batteries remain common because of their lower initial cost, while lithium batteries can support opportunity charging, faster charging, and lower routine maintenance.
For single-shift operations, either option may work well. For longer or multiple shifts, battery capacity, charger power, and charging infrastructure become critical.
Consider Floor Quality and Warehouse Conditions
Reach trucks perform best on smooth, level warehouse floors. Uneven surfaces, dock plates, outdoor yards, and steep ramps can reduce stability and operator comfort.
If your operation includes mixed indoor and outdoor use, a standard reach truck may not be the best choice. In that case, a counterbalance forklift or other warehouse truck may be more suitable.
